Heartbeat : Ju Percussion Group, August 23, 2019, Montreal, QC

Invited by SIXTRUM and the Overseas Chinese Association - Montreal Chapter (OCA)

SIXTRUM and the OCA invite the Taiwan-based Ju Percussion Group to perform for the first time in Montreal. Founded in 1986, this group has 17 permanent musicians who have given more than 3,000 shows, in Taiwan and during its many international tours, and created 235 new works. Its founder and artistic director, Tzong-Ching Ju, was inducted into the 2016 Percussive Art Society Hall of Fame.

On August 23, 2019, Ju percussion Group presents in Montreal a show with its five most experienced members, in an ultra-dynamic repertoire that mixes contemporary creation with inspiration from traditional Asian percussion, on the edge of tradition and modernity, and confluences of Eastern and Western energies. This concert is a unique chance to discover this ensemble recognized by the Taiwanese government as one of its cultural ambassadors, and to see on stage one of the most renowned percussion groups in the world.
