Djinn (marimba concerto) now available for solo marimba and digital audio

Originally a concerto for solo marimba, strings, harp, and percussion, Djinn is now available as a recital work for solo marimba and digital audio. The materials are available in flexible configurations to suit individual needs, and all are available as direct downloads.

I’ve been approached enough times by performers enquiring about a piano reduction (for solo recital performances and competitions) - that I decided to rework the midi orchestra into a rich textural audio backing.

Djinn was written for percussionist Pedro Carneiro and commissioned by Creative New Zealand. Pedro came to New Zedaland in 2010 to give three knockout performances; with Orchestra Wellington, the Auckland Philharmonia, and the Christchurch Symphony. All were conducted by Marc Taddei, and all featured Jeremy Fitzsimons on ancillary percussion. The work has had a number of performances since then, but the increasing demand for a recital version has prompted this reworking of the concerto into a format similar to One Study One Summary.

The work has three parts;

 Mvt 1: Pandora

Mvt 1: Pandora

 Mvt 2: Labyrinth

Mvt 2: Labyrinth

 Mvt 3: Outdreaming the Genie

Mvt 3: Outdreaming the Genie
