The finale of the 2019 NZSO Shed Series. November 30th. Oboist Russel Walder joins the NZSO to perform three of his own works specially arranged for oboe and orchestra by John Psathas. These pieces are inspired by the concepts of meditation and self-awakening.
Djinn (originally a concerto for marimba and orchestra) is now available as a recital work for solo marimba and digital audio.
My new solo work for snare drum - “Mentacide” -is now published and available from Pocket Publications in the book “The Dynamic Snare”.

I’ve recently been working with Pedro Carneiro on a new album of percussion works which, alongside a new recording of Ukiyo.
I spent January to April 2018 in London to be close to Piano Circus - a group of six pianists - to complete this work. The highlight was a week-long residency at Snape Maltings in Aldeburgh where we rehearsed the piece and worked on the sound and monitor mixes, then presented most of the piece to a wonderfully receptive audience.
